A space to make it new, wrong, broken, and brilliant. To provide a home for every creator finding their voice.
With Cold Coffee Stand, we aim to create a literary environment with accessibility and opportunity at its core. Cold Coffee Stand exhibits the newest, the sharpest, the funniest, strangest, and most innovative new writing and artwork Ireland has to offer. As a multi-medium platform, we accept submissions of all things literary, creative, and otherwise generally artistic. Send us the one story you still think should have been in The New Yorker. Send us the discomfiting one, the one no one else has read. Send us scrawled obscenities and articles no one else would touch. Send us love letters which didn’t work. Don’t send us first drafts. Join Ireland’s rich and renowned literary heritage and send us your attempts at Beckett. We prize innovation, and intend to use Cold Coffee Stand to showcase the diverse, original talent of Ireland’s creators.
And yes, we would be happy to receive submissions from overseas, be they about matters of Irish interest or otherwise (aren’t all matter of Irish interest?).
Cold Coffee Stand is a place to showcase your craft to the world, to provide answers to the questions posed by contemporary Ireland, to steal from the last generations in an effort to inspire the next. A space to make it new, wrong, broken, and brilliant. To provide a home for every creator finding their voice.
We aim to offer a diverse selection of the best Ireland has to offer. Cold Coffee Stand is, and always will be, open to all voices, and we are dedicated to amplifying work from every facet of Irish culture and society.
Short fiction- Up to two pieces of <3,000 words each per submission. If it’s 3,500+ words and amazing, we’re always open to talks.
Flash fiction- Up to three pieces of <700 words each per submission.
Poetry- Up to five poems per submission (Note: “Up to five” isn’t “Five or none”. We’d rather read one great poem than a half dozen you half-like)
Visual Art- Up to five pieces, preferably with a brief (>200 word) brief on their overarching thematic connection.
Send on text submissions as a .pdf attachment to your e-mail. We are happy to consider both agented and unagented submissions. Please include the author’s name at the end of the submission. For submissions of visual art, please ensure the work is in .jpeg format.
